Sadly, Ruthie is an orangutan with “issues”. After her mother was killed, Ruthie was kept as a pet and ill-treated, leaving her physically and emotionally scarred.

Ruthie had also been poorly fed, so she was very underweight when she arrived at Nyaru Menteng. If this wasn’t enough, she was expelled from Forest School because she started biting her classmates!

Fortunately, Ruthie has started eating well; having an appropriate diet has definitely improved her mood and helped her recover from an infection. Hopefully she might soon get the all clear to return to Forest School.

What do I receive during my adoption?

For $120 per annum (on a one-off or ongoing basis) or $32.50 quarterly ongoing or $12 monthly ongoing you can adopt either Ruthie or Nody; and it is tax deductible. With this you will receive:

A certificate of adoption;
A photograph of your chosen baby;
An information sheet about your baby;
Half yearly updates on his/her progress;
Our Grapevine newsletter online;
A small gift; and
All postage is included.

For online adoptions

If you are adopting online as a gift, please provide the name you wish to appear on the adoption certificate under the "Instructions" box along with any gift message you would like to appear on the cover letter.

If the pack is to be delivered to you initially, please also provide an email or postal address for the recipient under the "Instructions" box to ensure he/she receives the quarterly updates and Grapevine.

About your donation

Your donation will be used in general support of BOS rescue and rehabilitation efforts. There is no limit to the number of people who can adopt Ruthie and Nody.
