Save the Orangutans and help in the fight against global warming.
The Samboja Lestari project, developed and managed by BOS Foundation, is a unique reforestation concept situated in East Kalimantan, Borneo.
The once species-rich area had been cleared and burnt, leaving it an ecological waste-land. Since 2001, BOS Foundation has been working to restore the rainforest over an area of around 17 million square metres (sqm).
The benefits are widespread and already visible:
- a permanent reserve for orangutans and other wildlife is being created
- local communities are being provided with a sustainable livelihood
- the micro-climate is improving with higher rainfall and lower temperatures already being experienced
BOS Australia has been allocated 42,000 sqm for its supporters to participate in returning the land to rainforest.
