Would you like to raise your students’ awareness of endangered species and the environment and give them a chance to see how they can make a difference?
If action is not taken now, students in coming years will be learning about how we allowed the orangutan to become extinct.
Orang-U-Friends is a program which enables schools to become involved with the crucial work that Borneo Orangutan Survival (BOS) Australia is doing to save the orangutan from extinction and rehabilitate those who have been rescued. Orang-U-Friends is a fun and interactive way of raising students’ awareness of this critical issue and allowing them the opportunity to play a role in the future of one of our closest living relatives.
By sponsoring a rescued orangutan infant, students will learn more about the plight of endangered animals and the destruction of their habitat. Rather than feeling helpless as they watch yet another species become extinct within their lifetime, students have the chance to make a vital contribution to not just one animal’s life, but to the survival of the species and its environment. Through regular updates, they will be able to follow the progress of their sponsored orangutan, gain an insight into the rehabilitation process and share in the celebration as their orangutan grows up and is eventually released back into the forests.
As a sponsor, your school (or class) receives a certificate of sponsorship, a photograph and profile of your chosen orangutan and updates twice a year. We will also provide ongoing support for students’ education into these issues with information packs, guest speakers and activities. Sponsors will be acknowledged in the newsletter and on our website.
All you need to do is hold a fundraising event, send in the proceeds and choose which infant you would like to sponsor. We can even provide you with suggestions and support for a great fundraiser if you wish.
