BOS Australia Committee

 

BOS Australia is a volunteer committee that is elected annually. Following the AGM held on 20th October 2011, the current committee is:

 

President

Tony Gilding (NSW)

Tony was elected as a committee member of BOSA in 2009 and is currently acting President; he has developed solid relations with BOS Foundation Indonesia on his recent trips. He manages the web site and administration teams as well as assisting with fundraising. Tony has been actively working with the Australia committee to develop an energetic and innovate awareness and fundraising programs for BOS Australia for the next year. Tony was previously Vice President of Australian Orangutan Project (AOP) for eight years and is currently a director of Rainforest Rescue and joint founder of the Palm Oil Action Group. He has served on many boards and was previously CEO of Australia’s largest gift importer,



Vice President
Louise Grossfeldt (NSW)

Louise is one of the supervisors of the Primate Unit at Sydney’s Taronga Zoo where she has worked for the past 19 years specialising in the husbandry and management of a range of different primate species. Lou has been involved in BOSA for the past seven years and has been a committee member since 2007. She provides animal husbandry advice on the care of the non-releasable orangutans held within the BOS sanctuaries in Indonesia. Lou also has a teaching background so is responsible for the Orang-u-friends program, encouraging school children to learn more about orangutans, the issues facing these animals in the wild and how they can help.

 

Treasurer
Deborah Mohr (NSW)

Deborah Mohr is a chartered accountant with over four years experience working with non profit organisations in Sydney, London and Uganda. Prior to working with non profits, she trained at PriceWaterhouseCoopers and brings sound technical experience to the board.

 

Secretary

Christine Thornton (NSW)

Christine has been in the public service for over 20 years in various departments and roles. Her main body of work involves writing, developing, producing and maintaining communication and education products, including web content, online bulletins and promotional material. She writes much of the BOSA communications and has been an active supporter of many animal charities over the years.

Committee members

Mariana von-Lucken (NSW)

Mariana is a chartered accountant specialising in tax advice with over 15 years experience working with medium to large business entities. She is has taken over the role of volunteer coordinator and has been very active in fundraising events. She is committed to the survival and protection of animals and has joined BOSA to assist with achieving our goals wherever possible.

Jade Harley
Jade has extensive experience in cross-platform sales solutions, event production, content creation and integrated media planning for brands. She was formerly head of integration at Peer Group Media, Associate Publisher of The Music Network, General Manager of Australia’s largest festival event company Future Entertainment and Managing Editor of youth title 3D World for nine years. Jade is a passionate animal lover and joined us in July 2010 with the aim of contributing with the development of a strong and diverse calendar of fundraising events and strengthening media relations and marketing

Orangutans supplement diet with loris

RSPO to certify 20% of palm oil output by 2015

Maria Agatha van Noordwijk: Delving deeper into orangutan conservation
