BOS Australia Committee

BOS Australia is managed by a volunteer committee which is elected annually. Following the AGM held on 26 November 2009, the current committee is:

President

Malcolm Carson (NSW) 

Malcolm joined BOS Australia as a member in September 2009. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree with majors in Geology and Economics and a post graduate Masters Degree in Natural Resource Management. His career spans more than 30 years as an exploration geologist and within the government and financial sectors. Since the mid-90s, Malcolm has worked through his own consultancy firm in technical project evaluation, operational management roles, business development, commercial and financial analysis, project development and management. He is currently an executive and non-executive director of several publicly listed and private companies.

Vice President

Jan Hindmarsh (NSW)

Jan originally trained as a registered nurse, working overseas for 13 years before returning to become a Financial Planner with The Women's Investment Network, where she served on the board for two years.  She then operated and ran her own florist business, serving on the board of Interflora for two years. She returned to full time nursing six years ago. She was elected President of BOS Australia in September 2006 and Vice President in December 2007 and December 2008. Jan is very active in coordinating the volunteer group in NSW and their activities.

Treasurer 

Christine Greiser (VIC)

Christine has been a financial member of BOS Australia since 2002 and has served previously as President BOS Australia. She has post graduate qualifications in Finance and has gained book keeping experience from her own company. Christine is keen to continue representing BOS Australia at public awareness events and, with a marketing background, can also assist with advice on marketing and promotion messaging.

Secretary

Lisa Curtis (NSW)

Lisa joined BOS as a member in November 2008. For the past 12 years she has been a safety professional and has worked with people from many different cultures and within a range of countries. Lisa believes she can apply her strategic planning and communication skills to benefit BOS. 

Committee members

Tony Gilding (NSW)

Tony was until recently  Vice President of Australian Orangutan Project (AOP). Tony joined BOS as a member in October 2009. He would like to assist BOS in the areas of marketing and public relations as well as communications.

Louise Grossfeldt (NSW)

Louise is the Unit Supervisor Primates Exotic Fauna Precinct at Taronga Zoo and has been working at the Zoo for the past 17 years.  Louise became a committee member in December 2007 and December 2008. Louise sees her contribution as being the animal / orangutan husbandry consultant.

Anne Miehs (NSW)

Anne holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Zoology, a Master of Science in Primate Conservation and is completing a PhD in Fire Ecology at Melbourne University. She has worked in animal welfare, biodiversity research and conservation biology in Australia and internationally - including orang-utan conservation projects in Borneo and Sumatra. Anne was a co founder of the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation Palm Oil Group and has previously written for “Grapevine” the BOS Australia newsletter. Anne is passionate about knowledge exchange and will edit “Grapevine” and manage the adoption program.

Karen Stenner (NSW)

Karen has been a member of BOS Australia since February 2008. During 2009 she has helped co-ordinate volunteers working with Darek Figa on the sun bear enrichment program at Samboja Lestari.

Stephen White (NSW)

Stephen joined BOS as a member in October 2009. He has over 25 years financial markets exposure spending the majority of that time working for international banks. He is currently a Director of Noah’s Rule, an independent risk advisory firm. His interest in joining the BOS committee is to assist in finding sustainable solutions which would in turn provide a natural environment for the orangutans to live.
