The Problem
There are numerous threats to the viability of the remaining wild orangutan population in Indonesia and Malaysia. The primary threat is the loss of habitat with up to 80% of suitable forest in Indonesia and Malaysia having been lost in the past 20 years. Other threats, which often go hand-in-hand with the destruction of the rainforest, are the illegal pet trade and poaching.

By supporting our Spring Adoption Appeal, you #helpus teach our orphaned orangutans the survival skills they need for a future return to the wild, as well as provide them with the loving care their biological mums sadly can no longer give them.
Tragically, the mothers of these orangutan #orphans were killed by human actions or faced other tragic fates. Wild orangutan mothers are fiercely protective of their young and would never leave them alone willingly.
We aim to find at least 100 new adopters by 15 October. Will you be one of them?
