The Problem
There are numerous threats to the viability of the remaining wild orangutan population in Indonesia and Malaysia. The primary threat is the loss of habitat with up to 80% of suitable forest in Indonesia and Malaysia having been lost in the past 20 years. Other threats, which often go hand-in-hand with the destruction of the rainforest, are the illegal pet trade and poaching.

It's an important contribution to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals, including those on climate action, sustainable production and consumption, protection of seas and oceans, repairing ecosystems and retaining biodiversity.
We do our part by rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing c#endangerede#orangutansorangutans, protecting and restor#rainforestr#habitatt #habitat, and reducing our carbon footprint by using renewable energy sources at our centres.

Recently, the Samboja Lestari Rehabilitation Centre welcomed a new female #sunbear cub.
The tiny #baby was found on a palm oil plantation and is currently in quarantine, closely monitored by our veterinarians.
