Our Vision
Our vision is a world where orangutans are free from the threat of extinction and can live in the wild, unharmed by humans.
back to their home.
our two sanctuaries.

Adopt an orphaned orangutan
Orangutans are on the brink of extinction. Help provide the care and rehabilitation
they need to return to the wild.
The Problem
There are numerous threats to the viability of the remaining wild orangutan population in Indonesia and Malaysia. The primary threat is the loss of habitat with up to 80% of suitable forest in Indonesia and Malaysia having been lost in the past 20 years. Other threats, which often go hand-in-hand with the destruction of the rainforest, are the illegal pet trade and poaching.

On Day 3 of our 12 Days of Christmas Orangutan Jungle Jingle, we are excited to showcase our Orangutan Jungle School's school buses—wheelbarrows skillfully driven through the complex by our amazing surrogate mothers.
Did you know that you can help us care for our little students this Christmas?
We urgently need a new facility at our relocated Nyaru Menteng Centre, which will serve as the operational heart of our rehabilitation efforts.
We are still far from our goal, but we must raise $50,000 by 25 December to be able to start building this essential facility.

They are loving their bus ride ❤️❤️❤️❤️
It's Day 2 of our 12 Days of Christmas Orangutan Jungle Jingle!
Isn't Catherine's tree-top nest, high up in the canopy, beautiful?
Did you know that orangutans typically create a new nest each evening?
They weave their nests from broken branches and leaves. These nests are often very well-crafted, resembling large baskets, and they can be more than a meter wide.
In addition to their evening nests, orangutans also build nests during the day to rest and play in. A mother with a young infant might create two or three nests in a single day, and expectant mothers also use nests to give birth in.
By buying an Instant Gift for a loved one from our shop this Christmas, you can help us restore vital orangutan habitat.

What wonderful photography. 🧡🦧
Welcome to Day 1 of our 12 Days of Christmas Orangutan Jungle Jingle!🦧🎄
Let's kick off with our curious little Nursery Group babies.
All of them are orphans, rescued from plantations or villages, after losing their mothers to human-wildlife conflict or being illegally kept as pets.
You can help them overcome their trauma and learn the crucial survival skills their mums couldn't teach them, so that one day we can return them to their wild forest home.
An orangutan adoption is not only rewarding but a powerful way to support our efforts to rescue, rehabilitate and release orangutans back into the wild. It also makes a beautiful and unique holiday gift for someone special in your life.
This Christmas, give the gift of love by adopting one of our orphaned orangutans here: orangutans.com.au/meet-ou#SaveOrangutanso#Christmas##junglejinglen#ChristmasGifti#holidaygifto#AdoptAnOrangutann#notapetn#loveapet #love ... See MoreSee Less
